“It’s been a while since I retired from community practice and I often reflect upon the individuals that I have been fortunate enough to encounter during my career. Some of those were patients whose life stories remain firmly planted in my mind and who left a profound pool of experiences upon which to reflect.
Others were those that I sat on boards with, whether it be the local Chamber of Commerce, the Penetanguishene General Hospital Board or the professional boards, at both provincial and national levels, with whom I served for well over twenty years.
Still others were those that I was fortunate to work alongside, as associates in my practice, who gave it their all as if indeed it was their own business that they were nurturing and successfully growing.
There are a few individuals that stood out in my career but I wish to focus on one in particular. Matt Garwood deserves to be heard and afforded the opportunity of serving you as Ward 1 Springwater Councillor.
As an employer you hope to find people who are self starters, who are compassionate about what they do, who are bright and capable and have the means to think outside the box to provide solutions to problems that might arise, who lend an empathetic ear to others, who are creative and tackle tasks with a great sense of humour, who are interested in learning, who are pleasant to work with and have an honest character and a sound sense of judgement about what is right and wrong. Additionally you would hope that this person is willing to work hard and that they approach the job enthusiastically and without complaint. Matt Garwood is all of these things and more. Additionally, he has history on his side, emulating the way in which his grandfather, Gilbert Moreau, was engaged politically in supporting worthwhile causes.
I watched Matt Garwood grow into the upstanding man that he has become today and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed with the contribution that he would make to the betterment of the community of Springwater. He’s a great guy, he was an ideal employee and would be an excellent addition to council.
Vote for Matt Garwood!”
